IBM® TM1 has its roots firmly embedded in planning, analytics and reporting and provides a solid foundation for IBM® Planning Analytics.
Data in IBM® TM1 is stored at the ‘leaf’ level. These leaf nodes and their parents are structured in dimensions and multiple dimensions form OLAP cubes that hold and collect data with associated relationships known as rules. In-memory calculations support real-time enterprise planning models; data entering the system at any point immediately feeds dependencies in other cubes.
From the early 1980s to late 2016 it was a major player as an enterprise planning solution. IBM® TM1’s in-memory OLAP engine is now part of the IBM® Planning Analytics suite which boasts many new features beyond the initial offering, but still leverages the inherent speed of the original.
